Fintech #3: Titan

Building the new Schwab

Titan, for those of you who do not know, is a social investing app that allows you to build a portfolio of real estate, crypto, private credit, and venture capital.

What I imagine Titan vision for this app to be

This app was the brain child of Clayton Gardner and Joe Percoco, who envisioned a sleeker ‘Schawb’. Recently, I was invited to participate in user testing (in product management terms, this means the user is asked to evaluate or test a product, feature, etc.)

These were the thoughts I had about how Titan can further improve its app:

  1. Simplify ‘VC’ terms in the app: e.g: in the Overview section of the app when you pull up more information about a Fund

Case in point: The word "prospectus." Someone who has never explored the field of finance or venture capital would not understand what a prospectus is; hence, I would recommend changing the word to something more simplified or having an information tab that pops out to quickly explain the meaning of that.

  1. Put the Ask a Question tab at the top rather than scrolling all the way to the bottom because it may not be user intuitive to scroll downwards to "Ask a Question."3. When Titan lists its investment opportunities, it is unclear to me if the "historical returns" are annualized or on a month-to-month basis. It begs the question of whether "historical returns" are inflation-adjusted and time-weighted.4. When viewing the investment team profiles, as an investor, I would love the chance to be able to contact the analysts directly in case I have questions I'd like to ask them directly or have a look at their social media profiles.

  1. It would be extremely helpful if we could see a map of the countries where the investments are based on the offshore fund overview:

  2. To increase its trustworthiness, I would suggest that Titan be more transparent about how much of a percentage fee it takes with each investment, because being transparent highly resonates with many users as it promotes honesty and suggests it has nothing to hide.
